7 Things you didn't know about Kölner Dom of Saint Peter in Cologne, Germany

1. The Wise Men are in there, the shrine holds the bones of the three wise men from the bible. They were brought by pilgrims to Cologne in the middle ages.

2. Construction of the Cathedral started in the 13th century and was finished in the 19th century. It began in 1248 and was not completed until the two big towers were added in 1880.

3. It’s uneven, the North Tower is 7 centimeters (2.75 inches) higher than the South Tower.

4. It’s bombproof During World War II, Cologne Cathedral was hit by 14 bombs, but the building did not fall.

5. The Cathedral can hold more than 20,000 people

6. It has 11 bells, one weighs 24 tones

7. It is the second tallest church in Germany and the third in the world.
